Peskov says doesn’t rule out unblocking Meta in Russia

MOSCOW, May 17 (PRIME) -- Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov doesn’t rule out that Russia may unblock services of U.S. technology company Meta, designated as extremist and banned in the country, he told reporters on Tuesday.

“I would not rule that out,” Peskov said, when asked whether the unblocking of Meta’s Instagram will be possible in Russia.

Peskov said that Meta has been refusing to delete the materials “that have extremist features, that contradict the country’s laws.”

“They have been refusing to discuss it for several years. It was impossible to make them open an office here under the localization law. ... This is why if the laws of Russia are followed, perhaps, other horizons of cooperation are open,” Peskov said.
